Natural Park "Klyuchevskoy" was established in December 1999 and it is called to fill in the missing and most striking element of the World Heritage site "Volcanoes of Kamchatka". The park answers the three criteria for the natural sites assessment approved by the World Heritage Committee: its area is an extinguished example of the major stages of the Earth's evolutions, it demonstrates varied geological processes, concentrates unique and rare natural formations and phenomena, and differs by exceptional natural beauty. The park includes the most powerful cluster of volcanic constructions in Kamchatka - the Klyuchi Group of Volcanoes. Major massif is formed by 12 volcanoes including Klyuchevskoy - the highest summit in Kamchatka and in the Russian Far East and according to the relative height - the biggest volcanic cone of Eurasia; it is one of the most active volcanoes of the world.The park includes the most powerful cluster of volcanic constructions in Kamchatka - the Klyuchi Group of Volcanoes. In XX century, eruptions including catastrophic happened here. 25 years ago was one of the most interesting basalt eruptions, so called Tolbachik fissure eruption - uncontrolled, compared with nothing, grandiose element. It was a grand unforgettable spectacle. According to the volcanologists and travelers the Klyuchi Group is the most beautiful and perfect in the Earth. It towers over as a compact stone island in the north-eastern line of the wide Central-Kamchatka Depression. Volcanic constructions' gigantic sizes (up to 5000 m. height), their dense cluster in a relatively small area, pronounced active volcanic activity and thus variety of landscapes: from "lunar" landscapes to the beautiful filled with life rock tundras, islands with taiga vegetation and groves of Erman's birch - that makes the whole natural complex of the park unique and singular. Much attracts here scientists, tourists, and travelers.
